Tailored low dose three-dimensional CT of paranasal sinuses.
A technique for three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) of the paranasal sinuses was evaluated. The influence of milliamperage and reconstruction algorithms on image quality was studied in a phantom. Eleven patients with bony abnormalities of the paranasal sinuses underwent CT to assess the clinical impact of 3D CT protocol. Contiguous 1.5-mm sections obtained at 120 kVp/175 mA/1.9 sec ...
متن کاملHolographic Three-Dimensional Computer-Aided Imaging
Recent developments in a new method of holographic computer-aided imaging are reviewed. The proposed hologram is computed from angular viewpoints of the observed three-dimensional scene. The recorded data are processed to yield a two-dimensional computer-generated hologram. When this hologram is illuminated properly, a threedimensional image of the scene is reconstructed.
متن کاملAcoustic Analysis of Detailed Three-Dimensional Shape of the Human Nasal Cavity and Paranasal Sinuses
The nasal and paranasal cavities have a labyrinthine shape and their acoustic properties affect speech sounds. In this study, we explored the transfer function of the nasal and paranasal cavities, as well as the contribution of each paranasal cavity, using acoustical and numerical methods. A physical model of the nasal and paranasal cavities was formed using data from a highresolution 3D X-ray ...
متن کاملTwo- and Three-Dimensional Anatomy of Paranasal Sinuses in Arabian Foals
The 2- and 3-dimensional (3D) anatomy and the morphometric properties of the paranasal sinuses of the foal have received little or no attention in the literature. The aim of this study was to obtain details of the paranasal sinuses using multiplane CT imaging to create 3D models and to determine morphological and morphometric data for the sinuses using the 3D models. The heads of five female fo...
متن کاملDisorders of the Paranasal Sinuses
Inflammation of the equine paranasal sinuses is a relatively uncommon disease that may be caused by primary bacterial or mycotic infections (Mason 1975a), or can be secondary to dental disease (van der Velden & Verzijlenberg 1984, Scott 1987, Tremaine & Dixon 2001a), facial trauma, sinus cysts, progressive ethmoid hematoma or sinonasal neoplasia (Mansmann & Wheat 1973, Gibbs & Lane 1987, Tremai...
